Position title:  Resource Mobilization (RESMOB) Coordinator, WWF-Laos

Location:         Vientiane capital or remotely – with extensive travel to the sites.

The Resource Mobilisation Coordinator ensures that WWF-Laos develops and maintains effective Donor Partnerships and safeguards the effective coordination, monitoring and implementation of fund raising relevant to the WWF-Laos Strategy. This goes beyond a simple funding relationship and seeks to build and maintain a true partnership arrangement between WWF-Laos and its Donors (information exchange, joint policy work, mutual strategic planning input etc.).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage WWF-Laos Resource Mobilization Unit and provide supervision, guidance and directions to RESMOB staff in support of overall project development.
  • Analyse donor priorities/interest/call for proposals, assess suitability with WWF-Laos’ priorities and advise Country Director and Conservation Director on funding opportunities for new projects.
  • Establish and maintain liaison with donors (public and private) in view of identifying potential source of funding and partnership.
  • Lead the definition of WWF-Laos Resource Mobilisation Strategy and ensure its alignment with the WWF-Laos Conservation Strategy.
  • With input from Practice Leads and Project Managers and in coordination with the Quality Assurance and ESSF Focal Point, take the lead in developing country-based or regional proposals, with a particular focus on climate change mitigation and adaptation, forest and freshwater conservation and nature-positive community livelihood support.
  • Coordinate clearing of contractual arrangements with LEG.
  • Respond to or refer any external or internal request for general and specific information on WWF Laos activities.
  • Represent WWF-Laos in relevant donor meetings to provide technical input to donors’ strategies.
  • Support the development of local capacity in resource mobilization through coaching and mentoring of local staff.

Qualifications required

  • Master’s degree in business management, conservation, development studies, political science or in relevant fields
  • 5 years of practical experience as a partnership or fundraising coordinator for a programme or project, 2 years of which should ideally be in Laos or at least in the Greater Mekong Region
  • Experience in developing and writing project proposals to aid agencies, foundations
  • Successful fundraising experience with large-scale, multi country proposals (2-3 Million USD at least)
  • Experience of advocacy and negotiating with Government and donors at all levels
  • Proven track record in successfully managing inter-institutional relations, preferably in government aid agencies
  • Excellent understanding of development partnerships, fund-raising, donor strategies, functions and international relations
  • Familiar with conservation and natural resource management issues, and with those in Laos and in the Greater Mekong Region is an advantage
